Summer Storyteller Internship
Joint Opportunity – Diamond Lake Association & Diamond Lake Yacht Club
Purpose
Diamond Lake is full of life. But too often, that vibrancy doesn’t make its way into the communications of the Diamond Lake Association (DLA) and Diamond Lake Yacht Club (DLYC). Both struggle to capture the voice of the lake, and this internship was created to change that.
Role
We’re looking for someone who knows the lake, loves the community, and has a knack for sharing what makes this place special. As the Summer Storyteller, you’ll help us elevate how both organizations communicate. This isn’t a stuffy, corporate internship. It’s hands-on, flexible, and full of opportunities to make your mark.
Responsibilities
• Create and schedule social media content for both organizations
• Source and capture digital photography from Diamond Lake and the surrounding community
• Attend events, take photos, capture video, and tell real stories from around the lake
• Write newsletters and community email updates
• Coordinate with our social media agency on scheduling and planning
• Bring fresh ideas to the way DLA and DLYC connect with the lake community
• Measure progress through a digital dashboard
• Complete a capstone project that allows you to dive deep into strategy, audience insights, and creative planning (details below)
Key Information
Timeframe: May through Labor Day
Commitment: 10-20 hours per week
Capstone Deliverable
In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, you will complete a guided capstone project designed to mirror the kind of work you’d do in a professional agency setting.
You’d begin by selecting a focus area you’re most passionate about (e.g., process development, campaign development, brand strategy), and then apply that lens to both organizations. This project will take you through the full arc of strategic marketing work: conducting competitive research, understanding target audiences, shaping messaging, and delivering a final resource that creates lasting value for both organizations.
